چکیده

In an attempt to quantify the nonrandomness of primary neoplasiaassociated acquired chromosomal aberrations in humans, we have re trieved information from a computerized data base on the chromosomal abnormalities of 9069 human neoplasms. By restricting the survey to the 1985 cases with a solitary structural rearrangement, we attempted to limit the analysis to only those aberrations that were most likely to represent pathogenetically important, primary changes. The breakpoints of the primary abnormalities thus identified clustered to 71 bands. It furthermore turned out that 27 of the 41 oncogene sites known with reasonable precision (i.e., localized within one or two bands) coincide with bands consistently involved in neoplasia-associated rearrangements. These comparisons add to the evidence that acquired, cancer-associated chromosomal aberrations are nonrandom in distribution, that only a limited number of genomic sites are consistently involved in primary neoplasia-associated aberrations, and that the concordance between the breakpoints of primary aberrations and the location of cellular oncogenes is greater than predicted by chance.

The Genetics of Non-Syndromic Primary Ovarian Insufficiency: A Systematic Review

Purpose: Several causes for primary ovarian insufficiency have been described, including iatrogenic and environmental factor, viral infections, chronic disease as well as genetic alterations. Given the large number of genes described in the literature so far, the aim of this review was to collect all the genetic mutations associated with non-syndromic primary ovarian insufficiency. Methods: All...

Chromosomal Abnormalities in Regions 8q22 and 13q32 Associated with Different Disorders in an Iranian Family

Chromosomal abnormalities are major causes of infertility, miscarriage and birth of handicapped progeny. In human live births, the prevalence of a chromosome aberration is ?0.5% and, of these, 0.1–0.3% correspond to structural chromosome rearrangements such as translocations, inversions, insertions and deletions .Our proband is an infant who had died 4 hours after birth due to a variety of abno...

Hydatid Cyst of Ovary: A Case Report

Echinococcus granulosus is considered the major cause of human hydatid cysts. Usually the duration of cyst formation is 10-20 years. This period shortens significantly upon rupture of a primary cyst. The literature describes low incidence of primary involvement of ovary as a site of hydatid cyst formation. Our case is the first report on ovarian hydatid cyst in Iran. A 60-year-old woman was pre...
